Women's Volleyball Sweeps Glendale

Women's Volleyball hit the road on Wednesday for a Western State Conference Inter-Division match at Glendale.  The Cougars had a tough week with matches cancelled due to Covid restrictions both last Friday and this Friday, so when they went on the road, they were fired up to play.  The host Vaqueros kept it close, while falling in the first two sets, 25-21 and 25-23, but Cuesta left little doubt about earning a road win with a 25-13 victory to close the match.  Sophomore Middle Blocker Morgan Krause (Santa Maria) and Freshman Opposite Whitney Thompson (Arroyo Grande HS) did the bulk of the damage up front, as they both pounded down a team-high nine kills and added each a block at the net.  The Cougars attack was led by Freshman Setter Naomi Imamoto (Woodland Hills-pict), who stepped in for injured returner Courtney Kelsey (Cincinnati, OH), to dish out 38 assists in just three sets.  The Cougars conclude their pre-conference schedule with an 8-3 record.

The Cougars were scheduled to host Bakersfield this Friday, however that match has been cancelled.  The Cougars are not back in action until next Wednesday (6 PM), when they host Western State Conference rival Santa Barbara City to open WSC-North Division play.
