Beach Volleyball Clinches 4-1 Victory Over Rio Hondo and Edges San Diego Mesa 3-2
TORRANCE, Calif. - The Warriors added another two wins to their season record, going 13-3 as the Warriors hosted Rio Hondo College and San Diego Mesa on Friday.
In their first matchup of the day, the Warriors beat the Roadrunners 4-1. The only Warrior loss came from the number one team as Micah Hammond and Michelle Shimamoto fell in a three set game. The rest of the Warriors' victories were taken in two sets. Cassie Montani and Aiko Waters were a dominant force on court four, winning their first set by 13 points and winning the second with a 10 point lead.
The Warriors entered the match against the Olympians confidently and took a close game, winning 3-2. Hammond and Shimamoto struggled in their second game of the day, losing to their opponents 21-14, 26-24. Taylor Brydon and Brooklyn Rubio held a sturdy lead as they beat Olivia Tomlin and Sarah Connell 21-15, 21-8.
Montani and Waters had a close game, easily winning the first 21-13 but scraping through the second by two points to win 23-21.
The beach volleyball team will next host conference rivals Long Beach City (10-3) and Grossmont College (14-2-1) on Friday, April 14th.
