Falcons imitate Jekyll and Hyde

Falcons imitate Jekyll and Hyde

Two matches, two completely different Falcon teams.  The FLC volleyball team opened their Falcon Classic Tournament on Wednesday afternoon against College of Sequoias and were promptly swept in three sets, 25-15, 25-16, 25-19.  The Giants repeatedly found a hole in the middle of the Falcon defense and made them pay.

A different Falcon squad showed up for the evening match against Solano College.  Players were hustling, diving, and making plays, unlike the early match.  Folsom Lake took the first two sets, although it took a run of four straight points to finish out set two at 25-23.  The Falcons nearly pulled off a sweep, but faltered at the end of set three, losing 26-24.  Set four was a see-saw affair before Solano pulled ahead, forcing a deciding set five.  In the final set, the Falcons jumped out to an early 5-1 lead and never relaxed, winning handily, 15-5.

With their number one offensive option on the bench due to Covid protocol, the Falcons relied heavily on hitters Taylar Schafer, Mikayla Ide, and Jessica Baker.  Libero Dharma Jensen was a digging machine and provided some huge serving points.

The Falcons travel to Salinas on Friday for a three-way tournament against Hartnell and Cuesta Colleges.
