The MiraCosta women's beach volleyball team is starting to peak at the right time.  Yesterday the Spartans earned wins over San Diego City College and conference leading Mesa College.  Behind the strong play Elle Harrity/Cameron Martinez and Makayla Hicks/Summer Hoslett, the Spartans gave Mesa College their third loss of the season.

The Spartans started the day against San Diego City who suffered an injury in their earlier match and could only compete in the four of the five flights.  MiraCosta won the match 3-2.  Hicks and Hoslett started the match off with a win in the 4's position, finishing strong in the third game with a final score of 15-5. Jackie Gracey and Savannah So'oto also won for the Spartans, competing in the 3's position. Harrity and Martinez lost a close third game to the inspired play of one of the Fletes sisters (playing without her sister.)

In the second match of the day the Spartans took on Mesa College, who entered the match undefeated and 14-2 overall.  MiraCosta stepped up the challenge and earned a 3-2 victory with wins in the 1's, 2's, and 5's positions.  The enthusiastic play of Aliah Cortez and Lexi Morgan was an important piece to the match, winning the 5's position 21-17, 21-14.  

Aria Barker and Paola Peralta continue to play consistently in the 2's position, beating Mesa and losing a closely contested third game versus City.

The Spartans will take a three match win streak with them on Friday Aprill 22nd against Grossmont College and City College.
