The shooting woes continued for the West Valley basketball team Wednesday, as the Vikings fell to 2-2 in the Coast-South with a 75-56 loss at San Jose City.
 
After putting 90 and 87 points on the board against Gavilan and Hartnell, WVC has averaged 55.5 points in losses to MPC and the Jaguars. Both games saw the Vikings shoot below 40% from the field.
 
Against San Jose, the Vikings (11-8, 2-2 Coast-South) managed only a pair of field goals in the opening ten minutes to fall behind 19-8. The offense came alive late in the first to bring WVC to within 36-27 at the Break.
 
The Jaguars (7-14, 2-3) kept the pressure on after intermission, outscoring WVC 39-29 behind 13 second-half points from Decaurey Brown.
 
Sufyan Elkannan led the Vikings with 17 points, while Ben Baker added 11 and Michael Steward II had 7. Brown paced the Jaguars with 25.
 
West Valley travels to De Anza (9-11, 2-2) Friday (1/24). Tipofffor the annual Coaches vs. Cancer contest is 7pm.
