Comets tame Coyotes in 73-47 win

SAN MARCOS, CA (1/22/2020) – Palomar faced Pacific Coast Athletic Conference opponent Cuyamaca College Wednesday night and won 73-47 to improve to 6-2 in conference play.

Hunter Petty lead all Comets scoring 19 points, a season-high, going 7-16 in the field and draining five 3-pointers in the process. Petty rounded out the night with three rebounds, one steal and a block. Anthony Smith had 16 points for Palomar going 6-14 on the night and 1-1 at the charity stripe. He had four rebounds and two steals. Zadok Wilson shot 50 percent in the field and grabbed six rebounds to go along with three steals and three assists. Michael Brandon was the last Comet in double-digits scoring 11 points. He had four assists and three steals.

The Comets are currently in third place in PCAC play behind Southwestern and San Diego City. Palomar lost to San Diego City 78-69 last week at home. They bounced back to defeat Imperial Valley College 91-62 on the road. The Comets are 15-5 overall and are ranked N0. 26 in the state. They will face San Diego Miramar College at 5 p.m. on Friday.
