LOS ANGELES, CA – The SBCC women's volleyball team swept its third straight opponent on Wednesday, winning at Cuesta 25-10, 25-14, 25-17.

After an unfortunate start to the season which saw many key players missed time, the Vaqueros (7-7) have battled their way back to .500.

"We played well as a team in our sweep over Cuesta. We had 11 aces on the night led by Heidi Collins with four," said head coach Kat Niksto. "Our offense was very balanced, but led by a strong showing from Caroline McCarty with 12 kills. Emma Crabbe (18 assists) and Mikayla Butzke (13 assists) shared the setting responsibilities, and Jacelin McKie once again led the team in digs with 11. Defensive specialist Stephanie Arriaga came in off the bench late in set three to help close out the game with an ace, a pass and a dig. It was a great team win."

McCarty continues her run as the team's top hitter, with her 4.0 kills per set finishing as her second-highest average of the season. She hit .296 and the Vaqueros hit .225 as a team. Their 11 aes were also their second-highest of the year.
