(Chula Vista, CA) No. 7 seed Grossmont (23-12) defeated No. 10 Mt. SAC (12-17) by the score of 13-8 in the opening round of the California Community College Athletic Association Men's Water Polo Southern California Regional Championships at Southwestern College on Thursday.

The Mounties took a 2-1 lead through one quarter and the Griffins responded by tying the score at three at halftime. Grossmont dominated the second half, outscoring Mt. SAC, 10-5, to seal the win and earn a spot in the next round.

Luke Noblett, Trevor Ingersoll, and Adam Dow scored two goals each for the Mounties. Ingersoll also led the team in assists with three while Diego Lopez had two.

Goalie Noah Stark played all four quarters, tallying 10 saves.

The loss concludes Mt. SAC's season.
