Griffins take down SD City on Tuesday, March 28.

SAN DIEGO – The Grossmont College women's tennis team defeated the San Diego City College Knights 6-3 in a lengthy four-hour battle.

The pivotal match could be pinned on the No. Two doubles match. Hannah Bodke and Ellie Capurro were trailing the Farmer/Adel pair from City, 7-1, just one point set away from locking up the match. Bodke and Capurro reorganized and heard some inspirational words from coach Megan Haber during the changeover. The pair went on a run that would make a pro jealous. They rolled off seven straight sets to take a 8-7 lead. City rallied back to tie the set up at 8-all. Therefore, a tiebreak was in the cards. The pair of East County natives won the tiebreak and took the match 9-8. Allowing the Griffins to sweep the doubles portion of the match.

Grossmont is scheduled to face Southwestern on Thursday, March 30, weather permitting.
