COD (10-8; 5-3) grabbed a split on the road, falling to the El Camino Warriors of Torrance (17-3; 7-0) and securing an easy win over the host Victor Valley Rams of Victorville (0-7; 0-7).

While the match took place in Torrance on the campus of El Camino College, this South Coast Conference match was a Victor Valley "home" match, because the Rams do not have a facility in Victorville.

The 1's team of freshman Tyler Davis (Palm Desert Xavier College Prep) and freshman Alexis Dempsey (Palm Springs H.S.) fell in their opener against El Camino, 22-20 and 21-17, but rebounded in dominant fashion, defeating the Rams in straight sets, 21-9 and 21-1.  With the win, the Davis/Dempsey pair moves to 11-2 on the season.

The 2's team of freshman Kyrsti Photias (La Quinta H.S.) and freshman Kaila Sandy (La Quinta H.S.) were the only Roadrunners pair to bust through the Warriors, winning their hard-fought match over El Camino in straight sets 21-14 and 23-21. In the later match, they easily defeated their Victor Valley counterparts, 21-4 and 21-1. With the wins, the Photias/Sandy pair moves to 7-2 on the season.

The 3's team of sophomore Jomarie Viloria (Rancho Mirage H.S.) and freshman Caitlin Bilhartz (Bowling Green (MO) H.S.) fell in a close match in straight sets to El Camino, 22-20 and 21-12, then rebounded by punishing Victor Valley in the afternoon, 21-5 and 21-13. With the win, the Viloria/Bilhartz pair moves to 2-2 on the season.

The 4's team of freshman Emillie Griffith (Yucca Valley H.S.) and freshman Katie Alexander (Yucca Valley H.S.) struggled in their match against El Camino, falling 21-11 and 21-10, and then grabbed a lopsided win over Victor Valley later in the day, 21-9 and 21-4. With the split, the Griffith/Alexander pair moves to 7-9 on the season.

The 5's team of freshman Angel Talos (Palm Desert H.S.) and freshman Rikki Mottler (Rancho Mirage H.S.) dropped their match against El Camino, 21-17 and 21-10, then easily defeated their Victor Valley counterparts, 21-0 and 21-4. With the split, the Talos/Mottler pair moves to 5-1 on the season.

College of the Desert Beach Volleyball will continue South Coast Conference (SCC) play by traveling to Torrance to face the top two teams in the Confernece, the El Camino Warriors and the Long Beach City Vikings on Friday, April 22 at 10a.
