Back-to-Back Road Wins for City
After dropping the first two games of the season, the Knights responded with back-to-back road wins at L.A. Harbor and at Desert on Wednesday and Thursday to improve to 2-2. Shortstop Julian Nunez went 7-for-10 with four RBI and four runs in the two wins this week, while outfielder Gabe Jones went 5-for-9 with four RBI and four runs.

In Wednesday's game against L.A. Harbor, which was postponed one day due to rain, the Knights' offense got started early with two runs in the first inning coming off a 2-RBI single by Quinn Johnson. The Knights added three more runs in the second inning to take a quick 5-0 lead.
Nunez doubled in a run in that second inning and Jones followed with a 2-RBI double to center field.
Harbor scored its first run in the third inning, but Nunez' hot bat was at it again in the fourth inning when he hit a solo home run to put City ahead, 6-1.
Harbor cut City's lead to 7-3 after five inning, but the Knights put the game away with a 4-run sixth inning.
Connor Stewart doubled in a run, Justin Kerby hit a sacrifice fly, then City added their ninth and tenth runs on an error and wild pitch. Harbor tried to rally back in the seventh, but only managed three runs as the Knights went on to win, 12-6.
Starting pitcher Quinn Oliver earned the win after stiking out nine in five innings of work.
The Knights had a quick turnaround with a game at Desert on Thursday afternoon, but they were up for it. They scored another early run in the first inning off an RBI-double from Jones. Drew Lazor scored in the second inning on a passed ball to make it 2-1 Knights.
City was ahead 4-3 going into the eighth inning when they put together another late-innning surge. With two runners on, Nunez doubled in a run to give the Knights a 5-3 lead. Randy Lopez-Acosta scored on an error, Nunez came home on a wild pitch, and Johnson singled in Jones to make it 8-3 Knights.
Starting pitcher Jacob Hennessey struck out four and allowed only one earned run in 4.2 innings. Avery Laine pitched the final 4.1 innings and struck out six to earn his first win of the season. He gave up a run in the sixth, but then retired the side in the final three innings.
The Knights will play Desert once again on Saturday at 2 p.m. at Morley Field.
