Falcons Fight Hard But Get Swept On The Road

Folsom, CA – The Falcons (2-4) hit the road in an early-season four-game road trip that included games in San Mateo, Monterey, and a doubleheader in San Jose, CA.

The Falcon's first opponent of the road trip was the defending state champion, College of San Mateo, Bulldogs (5-1). The Falcon's had a promising start to the game with a first inning run by freshman infielder, Araceli Jaimes, to take a 1-0 lead. But the Bulldogs answered in the bottom of the first inning with a two-run home run which proved to be the game winning run as the Falcon's were unable to score again and lost to the Bulldogs by a score of 5-1. Isabela Savala (0-2) started at pitcher for the Falcons and went five and a third innings, allowing five runs on eight hits, and striking out one.

On Friday, the Falcons visited the coast to take on the Monterey Peninsula College, Lobos (7-0). In this defensive duel, both teams scored one run in the second inning and it wasn't until the top of the fifth inning until either team scored again, when the Falcons broke the tie and took a one-run lead (2-1). This lead wasn't enough, however, as the Lobos added two runs in the bottom of the 6th inning and kept the lead for a final score of 3-2. Emma Gaytan led the Falcons, offensively, going 2-for-3 with two doubles. Angelina Baquera (1-1) started in the circle for the Falcons and went six innings, allowing three runs on five hits and striking out one.

Saturday's first game was another heart breaker for the Falcons as they gave up another late-game, one-run lead to the host, San Jose City College, Jaguars (2-0). This time it was in the bottom of the 7th inning, when the Falcons walked in a run to make it a 3-3 game and then gave up a walk-off single to lose the game by a final score of 4-3.

Unfortunately, the second game of the double header was canceled due to rain.
