Bulldogs Force 1-1 Tie with Canyons

SANTA MARIA, Calif. - The Allan Hancock College men's soccer team forced a 1-1 tie at home against College of the Canyons on Tuesday afternoon. | BOX SCORE

The Cougars (1-7-1) struck first with a goal in the 9th minute with a header towards the back post after a free kick. Jesus Hinojosa evened the playing field in the 35th minute by sending his second goal of the season past the keeper following a handball foul. 

Canyons outshot the Bulldogs (1-6-2) at a 17-13 margin while owning the corner of the field with a 7-4 advantage. Hinojosa led the offensive pressure as the lone AHC member to register multiple tries. The Nipomo native closed the contest with five shots in the game while placing three on frame.

Martin Villagomez earned his fourth start in the box for the Bulldogs and collected three saves while allowing one goal through the opening half. Luis Garcia entered as the keeper after the intermission and grabbed five second-half saves.

Hancock is set to return to action on Friday, September 30th, with a road trip to Mt. San Antonio College.
