With their 19-7 win over visiting Chaffey College on Wednesday, the Cerritos College men's water polo team improved to 10-3 overall and 2-0 in South Coast Conference play. The Falcons will travel to San Diego on Saturday to play three games at the San Diego Mesa Tournament.

In their win over the Panthers (1-7, 0-2), Cerritos turned a 5-2 lead after the first period into a 13-4 advantage at intermission, thanks to an eight-goal second period. Sophomore All-American Dominic Hernandez (Schurr HS) accounted for four of the team's goals in an 10-1 run, with Silvestre Chavez (Downey HS), Kobe Hurtado (Cerritos HS) and Axel Pedroza (California HS) each posting a pair of goals.

The outcome of the game was never in question after the offensive outburst, which allowed the entire roster to see playing time. Hernandez scored a team-high five goals and also led the defense with four steals, while Silvestre finished with four goals. On the day, eight different players scored at least one goal.

Hurtado recorded three goals, with Allan Jimenez (Schurr HS) assisted on four goals. Sophomore Rene Borja (Schurr HS) picked up the win by making five saves in the first three quarters, with freshman Anthony Alonso (Warren HS) turning away three shots in the fourth quarter.
