Pirates pick up 8-1 road win at Glendale

GLENDALE -- The Orange Coast College women's tennis team overcame the extra-warm climate and rolled past host Glendale College, 8-1, on Friday in a nonconference matchup.

OCC (3-1) started off in doubles and took 2-of-3, with wins coming from the teams of Jade Moreno/Ruth Salter (8-6) and Tiffany Tu/Allison Dobrea (8-4).

The fun continued for the Pirates in singles play as they took 5-of-6 matches to pick up the team win.

Logan Koitka won at No. 1 after winning the first set, 7-5 before her opponent had to end the match early, trailing, 4-0.

Moreno (6-3, 6-2), Salter (6-1, 6-0), Tu (7-6, 3-6, 10-6 tiebreaker) and Dobrea (6-4, 6-4) continued their strong play and won their singles matches as well.

Coast will return to action on Thursday at home against San Diego City College, beginning at 2 p.m.
