The Hawks (4-3, 0-0 Big 8) traveled down to Merced JC to take on the Blue Devils in a two game series for the weekend. The Hawks got back into the win column defeating the host Blue Devils 6 to 4 in Friday nights contest. Today's  game was nothing short of a pitching dual for 7 plus innings between the two ball clubs. Sophomore Owen Hunt (Folsom HS) was spectacular for the Hawks. Hunt's game line was: 6 2/3 IP, 2 R, 3 BB, 4 H, 11 K's, but unfortunately was a no decision on the night. Hunt's efforts literally kept the Hawks fighting to the very end. Inning after inning Hunt seemed to only get stronger and stronger keeping the Blue Devils off balance with his arsenal of pitches and location.

The Hawks were led offensively from Sophomore Brett Graber (Capital Christian HS) going 3x4 on the night. Defense was a tad suspect on the night as the Hawks committed a season high six errors on the night, but were able to put a big inning up during the top half of the 8th. The Hawks plated 10 hitters and scored five runs. The biggest hit of the inning came from Freshmen Gabriel Ramirez who hit a laser single to left field scoring two key runs with bases loaded and 1 out in the inning. Freshman Troy Rice came in relief and recorded his first collegiate win of his career and of the season.

"Great team win, Great team win on the road vs. a quality ball club. We are not done yet but the goal is to win at home and split on the road." (Head Coach Donnie Mico)

The Hawks return to action tomorrow Saturday 12:00 pm (First Pitch) against the Blue Devils.
