A great postseason run by Long Beach City College sophomore Nikki Tigas (Wilson HS) finally came to an end with a third-round loss on Friday at the 2015 California Community College Athletic Association Tennis State Championship at the Ojai Valley Tennis Club.

After upsetting North No. 11-seed Claudia Plascencia Astudillo of American River College on Thursday, Tigas couldn't keep pace with South No. 6-seed Hali Dickson of Orange Coast College, falling 6-1, 6-0.

Tigas and fellow sophomore Judith Aguilar (Poly HS) also reached the state championship in doubles. On Thursday, Tigas and Aguilar rallied from an opening-set loss to defeat Pauline Asuncion and Deanne Dinio of Diablo Valley College 4-6, 6-3, 10-6. But the Viking duo saw their season come to an end with a 6-1, 7-6 loss to the South No. 6-seeded team of Teresa de Anda and Bettina Olah from Palomar College in the second round.

Earlier this month, Long Beach wrapped up the regular-season schedule with a 2-11 overall record, and 2-10 in South Coast Conference play under first-year head coach Renzo Maggi.
