Hosting El Camino College in their South Coast Conference opener on Wednesday, the Cerritos College men's water polo team recorded a convincing 18-7 win. The Falcons (7-2, 1-0) will travel to Rio Hondo College next Wednesday for a 4:15 p.m. conference match.

The Falcon offense was firing on all cylinders from the outset, as they jumped out to a 4-1 lead early on and rode that momentum throughout the game. Four different scorers got on the board for Cerritos in the first quarter, while they accounted for the first four goals in the second quarter to open an 8-1 advantage. Once again, four separate goal scorers put their name in the scoresheet. The scoring in bunches continued in the second half, as the Falcons added to their total with six straight third quarter goals for a 15-4 lead.

The entire bench saw action, with freshman Dominic Hernandez (Schurr HS) and sophomore Ben Neppl (Long Beach Millikan HS/Long Beach City College) leading the team with three goals each, as 12 different players scored at least once. Posting a pair of goals were freshmen Abimael Anorve (Mira Costa HS) and Sebastian Rico (Montebello HS), with freshman Jonathan Gonzalez (California HS) assisting on four goals. Hernandez also contributed three assists, as did sophomore Mario Vanzillotta (Colegio Palas, Brazil), while freshmen Richard Montanez and Axel Pedroza (California HS) combined for nine of the team's 17 steals. Freshman Rene Borja (Schurr HS) played the game in goal and posted seven saves to earn his third win.
