GRIFFINS DROP ONE TO CITRUS

EL CAJON — The Grossmont College Griffins suffered their first loss of the season on Saturday, Sept. 10 to the hands of Citrus College by a score of 50-14 in front of a boisterous crowd at Mashin-Roth Memorial Stadium.

Citrus (2-0) jumped on top of the Griffins (1-1) with 21 points midway through the second quarter.

Elia Kirisimasi got the Griffins on the board late in the second quarter with an amazing toe-touch catch from Cleveland Ford III.

The pair hooked up again in the third quarter on a 32-yard pitch and catch. That cut the deficit in half to 28-14 Citrus.

Sometimes though it just isn't your day and that was the case for the Griffs on Saturday.

Kirisimasi put 250 yards up on 29-of-46 passing, adding the two touchdowns to his total for the season.

Keiyon Holloway did lead all rushers in the game with 75 yards on 12 carries.

Grossmont will now turn their attention to the Orange Coast College Pirates who will invade El Cajon on Saturday. Kickoff is scheduled once again for 3:00 p.m.
