In 2018, the biggest upset in school history for GCC Women's Basketball was a defeat against highly ranked Trade Tech College at home in the Verdugo Gym.

That feat has now been surpassed by Glendale's 57-50 win over Ventura College, No. 1 ranked in the state and Southern California who came into the game with a 12 game winning streak to start the season Friday Dec. 20 at home in the Verdugo Gym.

The Lady Vaqs now have a 12 game winning streak of their own to celebrate and a 12-1 record after rallying from a 23-23 tie at halftime to put some distance between them and the uber talented Lady Pirates who were stifled by a GCC defense that created 20 turnovers and stole the ball 12 times against a Ventura team that won the rebound battle 44-25 but obviously lost the war.

Penelopi Trieu led GCC in scoring with 18 points including three critical three pointers and the all-out unbridled hustle from Gloria Bianchi who had 12 points including a huge three point play down the stretch that kept the visitors at bay. Bianchi filled up the stat sheet with a game high 11 rebounds and three assists. Tess Oakley-Stilson added nine points and Vicky Oganyan who had four points, five steals, four assists and three rebounds.

Glendale has a two week break until thy play again against Pasadena City College on Saturday Jan. 4 at 5 pm at GCC.
