Softball Drops Doubleheader to Sierra and Monterey Peninsula

Bakersfield, CA – The Renegade Softball team dropped a two-team doubleheader on Saturday hosting both Sierra College and Monterey Peninsula College at the Dean and Adah Gay Sports Complex.

In the first game the Renegades fell 13-4 to the Wolverines. Sierra started off the top of the first inning with four quick runs. The Renegades responded back with four of their own in the bottom of the second to tie things up. Off 11 hits in the game, Sierra then slowly added runs each inning the rest of the game, building on their lead.

Brooke Lawrence started the game in the circle, pitching two innings before Arianna Gutierrez came in to pitch the rest of the game. Gutierrez notched six strikeouts in five innings worked.

In the game against Monterey Peninsula, the Renegades struggled offensively falling 5-0. By the end of the game they only had three hits compared to the nine for Monterey Peninsula. The Lobos had a three run second innings that they followed up with a run in the third and capped off the scoring with a run in the top of the seventh.

Brook Lawrence took the loss in the circle for the Renegades going two and two-thirds innings, allowing four hits and four runs.

Softball now drops to 6-6 overall on the season and will travel to play at Oxnard this Tuesday (2/18) at 2:30pm.
