No. 10 Roadrunners Outlast No. 7 Santa Rosa in 12-Inning Marathon to Advance to Super Regionals

Santa Rosa, Calif. - The 10th-seeded Roadrunners outlasted No. 7 Santa Rosa, 4-3, in a 12-inning marathon on Saturday afternoon to advance to the CCCAA Northern Super Regionals.

Santa Rosa struck first in the opening frame, but Butte was quick to tie things up in the third on a sacrifice fly by sophomore Cole Dyer. The Bear Cubs took the one-run edge on a solo shot in the top of the ninth, but freshman Danelle Daniels knotted things up again with a leadoff homer to left field.

The teams continued to go back and forth with Santa Rosa edging the Roadrunners in the 12th. But Butte quickly answered with a solo shot by freshman Aidan Moore to left field. Daniels batted in the game-winning one-out RBI-single to right field to score freshman Brennan White with bases loaded to secure the win.

On the day, Daniels went 3-for-6 with a double, home run, and a pair of RBI to record the team's lone multi-hit performance. Freshman Logan Meyers tallied a pinch-hit double in the 12th to get the offense going in the final inning.

Starting the game and going a full nine innings, freshman lefty RJ Aranda scattered seven hits, while fanning eight. Freshman Kyle Kucich (4-1) was the pitcher of record, throwing the remaining three innings, only allowing four hits.

Butte (28-14) will head to second-seeded Folsom Lake for Super Regional action starting on Friday, May 13 at 2 p.m.
