W. WATER POLO: BATTLE OF THE BEACH CHAMPS!

The Hornets took care of business this past weekend defeating all teams in their path at the Battle of the Beach Tournament held at Cerritos College.

On Friday FC knocked off Diablo Valley 20-6. Emily Jack and Julissa Alyssa Velazquez led the Hornets with 3 goals apiece. Adrianna Wong, Sophia Martinez, and Jordyn Lughart tossed in 2 goals each for the lopsided victory. Goalie Alexis Storman had 6 saves in 2 quarters, and Isabella Vergolino-Holiday had 3 saves in 2 quarters play.

In the second game of the day, Fullerton took out Citrus College 16-4. Tarsis Ledezma had a game-high 4 goals and 3 steals. Emily Jack and Neida Torres chipped in with 3 goals each. Amanda Ellerbroek scored 2 goals. GK Storman had 5 saves putting in 2 quarters of work, while Kathryn Whittingham finished it off with 6 saves.

On Saturday FC kept its winning ways going with an 18-10 win over Ventura College. Adrianna Wong pumped in 4 goals, while five others got in on the action scoring 2 goals each (Emily Jack, Nieda Torres, Charley JacksonAmanda Ellerbroek, and Julissa Velazquez). Storman and Whittingham both split time with 4 saves apiece.

Saturday's second and final game of the tournament was against the host Cerritos College, who ended up falling to the Hornets 10-7. The game's top goal scorer was Neida Torres, who scored a season best 7 goals. Her previous game-high was 5 (twice against Saddleback this season). Once again, Storman (4 saves) and Whittingham (7 saves) split time in the goalie box helping to seal the win.

Up Next: Fullerton (22-3 overall, 4-0 OEC) will travel west down the 91 Freeway to play district-rival Cypress College on Wednesday, October 27th at 4:00 pm.
