The Cabrillo College women's volleyball team, currently ranked No. 4 in the state, swept the visiting West Valley College Vikings on Halloween night to protect their undefeated Coast Conference North record heading into the final two weeks of the regular season.

The Seahawks (22-2, 9-0) dominated the first two games, winning 25-17 and 25-10, and overcame a late comeback attempt by the Vikings (12-9, 5-4), taking the third game 26-24.

West Valley brought 17 players to the Cabrillo's 10.

The Vikings' deep bench did little to stop the Seahawks from inching toward their 12th consecutive conference championship.

"Our rotations are our rotations and don't change very much," said Cabrillo first-year head coach Kelsee Montagna. "I think we adjusted fairly well besides that little run there."

The Seahawks will host the San Mateo College Bulldogs tonight in a battle of first- and second-place teams in the CC-North.

Jolie Samuelson filled up the stat sheet scoring eight kills, four aces, four digs and a block. Samuelson also stopped multiple attempts made by the Vikings to close out the third game.

Amanda Meserve lead the block party with three stuffed shots, while Kendra Lis, Lina Fiso and Paige Schieferstein chipped in two blocks apiece.

The Seahawks had 11 blocks as a team.

Lis had 38 assists in the match.

West Valley's best chance for victory came in the final game. It held a six-point lead, but the disciplined Seahawks fought back to win their 15th straight match.

"They had one really strong player that we practiced a lot playing against," said Cabrillo assistant coach Chicory Roth, "but honestly I think she didn't really do much this match."
