The Santiago Canyon College Softball Team walked away with a split on Friday to end the 4-game series. Fullerton College was able to come away with a 3-0 victory in game one of the day, while the Hawks responded with a 4-3 win in the final game of the series.
While the Hawks weren't able to capitalize on some key scoring opportunities early on. It was the 4th inning where Fullerton did all of their work. The Hornets took advantage of 2 walks and a Hawk error while adding two hits to plate their 3 runs. Scarlett Adams threw a complete game holding the Hornets offense to just 4 hits on the day.
In game two, the Hornets took the early lead pushing a run across on two Hawk errors. SCC responded immediately to tie up the game in the top of the second on an RBI single from Alyssa Yslas that brought home Hailey Guillen who had reached on an error and advanced on a sacrifice bunt from Alexandra Molina. The Hornets took a 2-1 lead again in the bottom of the 3rd. The Hawks responded in a big way, the following inning adding 3 runs to their total to take a 4-2 lead. Hailey Guillen started the inning with a solo homerun to left field. Then with two outs in the inning, Jazmyn Moetului singled and Priscilla Andrade drew a walk. Sabrina Rivera then drove a single to right center that allowed Moetului to score. After a Fullerton pitching change, Adriana Martinez came to the plate an added an additional run with a single to the left side that scored Andrade. In the 5th, the Hornets were able to push one more run across, but it wouldn't be enough as the Hawks were able to hold onto the lead and the eventual 4-3 win.
Hailey Guillen recorded the win for the Hawks holding the Hornets to 5 hits. Scarlett Adams recorded the save for SCC in game two while coming in to get the final out of the game with two runners on base. Sabrina Rivera was 2-for-4 in game two with an RBI, Adriana Martinez was 2-for-3 in game two with an RBI.
The Hawks will start a new 4 game series on Wednesday at Saddleback College. Game one of the day will start at 1pm with game two immediately following.
