The beavers competed against their second straight NCAA DII opponent, the Sonoma State Seawolves. Sonoma has been a DII powerhouse in recent years, and the Beavers gave them everything they could handle. In the doubles, ARC fell short in each match, despite being on serve late in all of the matchups. The closest match came at #1 doubles, where the ARC #1 tandem of Stephen Guenard and Younes Kodiji went to a tiebreak against Sonoma's duo of Nuddell/Singh, but fell short in the breaker. In the singles the Beavers took the Seawolves to the deep water, and were able to win 3 of the 6 matches. The most convincing victory of the day came from #3 Jack Hall beating Max Nuddell from Sonoma by the score of 6-3, 6-0. Micah Erwin cruised through the first set, and rallied back from a 5-1 deficit in the second set to beat the Sonoma #5, Paul Trabitzsch, 6-1, 7-5. The last match on was the #1 matchup of the Beaver's Younes Kodiji versus Sonoma's #1 Santiago Sarudiansky. Sarudiansky won a hard-fought first set by the score of 7-5, but Kodiji came back in the second set, not giving an inch, and the Seawolves #1 was forced to pull out with an injury at 5-7, 4-3.

"This match shows what we are capable of and how hard we have worked to be able to compete with these higher rated players." Explained coach Bo Jabery-Madison, "But it also shows us where we have to improve and that we are nowhere near the level that we want to be at by the end of the year." Coach Jabery-Madison also stated "Sonoma is one of the best-coached and most-improved DII teams in the nation. For us to be nose to nose with them is a credit to our boys. We are happy with the performance, but nowhere near satisfied, as I know we can be so much better by the end of the year."

The Beavers will next compete in the MJC Invitational on February 14-15. ARC has won the last 4 MJC Invitationals that have not been cancelled due to weather.
