COD Women's Soccer grabs 5th clean sheet of 2022, beats Tartars, 3-0

COD (4-3-3) rolled to their fifth clean sheet of the season, Dalaina Johnson tied a single season Desert scoring record with her 16th and 17th goals of the season, as the Roadrunners blanked the Compton Tartars (1-4-2), 3-0.

Sophomore goalkeeper Jessica Uribe (Indio Shadow Hills) grabbed her fifth clean sheet of the season, making three saves in the win. Sophomore forward Monserrath Bedolla Guzman (Thermal Coachella Valley) converted a penalty kick in the 65th minute and freshman forward Dalaina Johnson (Cathedral City H.S.) scored in the 10th and 56th minute. Johnson is firmly engaged in a running goal battle with a player from the Central California, as Johnson is in second place in the State in three statistical categories: Goals, Points and Shots.

Desert competed against the Compton Tartars for the first time in program history in 2010, where the Roadrunners have a 4-4-1 overall record against Compton. Desert has a 2-2 record against the Tartars in the Coachella Valley. The next contest for Desert is on Friday, September 30th at the Pasadena City Lancers. The Roadrunners first played Pasadena City in 2002, which was also the last year that these teams faced one another. Desert has an overall record of 0-1 against the Lancers. The next home match that will go down on the COD Soccer Field for the Roadrunners which is also a Conference game, will take place on Tuesday, October 4th at 4:00p, against the San Bernardino Valley Wolverines. Desert first took on the Wolverines in 1998. Since then, the Roadrunners have an overall record of 11-28-6 against San Bernardino Valley and an 8-14-3 record in Palm Desert.
