Baseball team suffers first loss of 2020

The Falcons played three games at L.A. Valley College over the weekend, resulting in their first loss of 2020 on Thursday afternoon, 5-4.  The Falcons had fallen behind 4-0, then rallied to tie the game in the sixth.  The score remained tied until the bottom of the ninth inning, when the Monarchs capitalized on a leadoff walk with a sacrifice bunt, a single, another walk to load the bases, and a walk-off hit batter.  Offensively, Troy Shields had two hits including his third home run of the season.  Pitcher Skylar Wells came on in early relief of starter Braeden Proud to pitch 5-1/3 innings of scoreless relief.
