Chargers Keep it Rolling with a 3-1 Victory Over El Camino

CYPRESS, CA- The Cypress Chargers volleyball team (3-1) hosted the El Camino Warriors (2-3) on Friday night in their second home game of the season. The Chargers rallied to take down the Warriors in four sets, 25-15, 20-25, 25-20, 25-20. 

Amanda Risch led the way with 11 kills for the Chargers followed by Alexis Flores and Rachel Gonzales with 10. Vanila Pulu-Suliafu set the table with 26 assists to go with her three aces. Mikayla Kadowaki led Cypress with five aces and Zoe Munn led the Chargers with 19 digs. 

In the first set the Chargers got the momentum going when they broke the tie with a huge block by Alli Arriolla to give the Chargers a 6-4 lead. Amanda Risch took over for the Chargers as she led a four point run including two aces. Cypress finished off the first set with a win, 25-15. In set number two, El Camino adjusted to the high powered Cypress attack and knotted up the match with a 25-20 victory. The Chargers and the Warriros went back forth in set three where they were all square at 11. Rachel Gonzales was the spark plug for Cypress with her 10 kills leading Cypress to a set three win. The Chargers looked to put away El Camino early in the fourth set when Nicaylah Iamaleava pushed the Chargers to a 10-4 lead after a four point run. Vanila Pulu-Suliafu closed the door on any chances of El Camino storming back with three aces in a row as Cypress led, 16-12. The Chargers went on to win the set and the match, 25-20. 

UP NEXT: The Chargers will be back on their home floor on Wednesday, September 8th when they host the Long Beach Vikings at 6pm.
