COSTA MESA -- The Orange Coast College women's tennis team took a break from Orange Empire Conference play, but didn't take a break from winning as the Pirates improved to 15-0 with an 8-1 nonconference win over visiting Grossmont College on Thursday at the OCC Tennis Complex.

Coast picked up five wins in six singles matches and were led by straight-set victories from Sedona Smith (6-1, 6-0), Madeleine Veltri (6-3, 6-0), Camila Nelson (6-0, 6-1), Olivia Sipiora (6-0, 6-0) and Leanne Pascua (6-0, 6-1).

It was a sweep for the Pirates in doubles play as the teams of Veltri/Logan Koitka (8-3), Smith/Sipiora (8-0) and Nelson/Pascua (8-0) cruised to victories.

OCC will continue nonconference play on Friday at home against Ventura before hitting the road on Tuesday to play at Mt. San Antonio. Both matches will begin at 2 p.m.
