(Long Beach, CA) The Mt. SAC Beach Volleyball Team dropped a South Coast Conference match to Long Beach City College, 5-0 Friday (3/15) morning at Granada Beach.

The Mounties are now 6-4 overall and 0-2 in conference and the Vikings improve to 8-2 and 2-0.

For the first time this season, Mt. SAC No. 1's, Juliana Gomez/Samantha Neely lost a match, 21-17, 21-12, after starting with nine consecutive victories.

Three of the five matches went the distance in three sets.

The Mounties' No. 2's Malia Carr/Shaiann Palos lost, 21-14, 18-21, 15-10.

The 3's pair of Lindsey Lane/Alysha Tullar took the first set in extra points, 24-22, for the 1-0 lead. The second set also went into extras, with the LBCC pair winning 23-21 to even the match at 1-1. The third set went to the Vikings, 15-12, for the win.

The third Mt. SAC pair to take the match to three sets was Jocelyn Portillo/Brianda Valdez. The No. 5's, who only had two losses this season, dropped the first set, 14-21, then rebounded to tie the match, 1-1 with a 21-19 win. The third set ended in a 15-13 loss.

The Mounties' No. 4's Macy Barnes/Jessica Morse fell in straight sets, 21-10, 21-12. 

Mt. SAC continues conference action next Friday (3/22) with a double dual against host LBCC and Rio Hondo. The matches will take place at Granada Beach.

• No. 4 - Kaitlyn Peterson/Elsa Woods (LBCC) def. Barnes/Morse (LBCC), 21-10, 21-12
• No. 5 – Brooke Gonsalves/Emma Harris (LBCC) def. Portillo/Valdez (Mt. SAC), 14-21, 21-19, 15-13
