The American River men's tennis team won the prestigious MJC Invitational for the fifth consecutive time it has been held. In 2019 the tournament was cancelled due to weather, but in the previous four years the Beavers were victorious in the flighted event. This year the Knights from San Diego City made the trip up and gave the Beavers all they could handle. The overall team event came down to the last match on, the #1 doubles final. In that match, Stephen Guenard/Younes Kodiji were able to jump on the San Diego team early and never looked back, closing the match out 6-3, 6-1. It was an exciting finish to a very busy couple of days on the courts. Other Beaver highlights in the tourney included Stephen Guenard winning the #2 singles flight without dropping a set. He beat the San Diego #2, Colin Palmer, in a hard fought final match. Gabe Kinder (#4) and Micah Erwin (#5) won their draws with dominant performances, losing just 5 and 4 combined games respectively. Younes Kodiji (#1), Jack Hall (#3), and Nathan Gravitz (#6) all reached their respective finals. The Beavers will begin conference play on Tuesday, 2/18 against Folsom Lake College.
