Eagle Women Win Big at Home Over Desert

The MSJC women's basketball team stayed unbeaten in Inland Empire Athletic Conference play on Wednesday night as they earned a 106-30 win at home over College of the Desert.

The Eagles got off to a fast start as they built a lead of 31-8 after the first quarter.  MSJC then out scored the Roadrunners 23-8 in the second period to head to the locker room with a 54-16 advantage.  The second half produced similar results as the Eagles won the contest going away.

Five MSJC players reached double figures in scoring on the night led by Haylei Janssens who had a game high 21 points to go along with a game best 13 rebounds, she also picked up 5 steals and dished out 3 assists.  Deja Blue had a solid night with 13 points for the Eagles while passing out 8 assists and coming up with 7 steals.  Diamonere Butler came off the bench to contribute 12 points while Mariah Sanchez and De'Adra Ross each had 10.  Ross just missed a double double as she brought in 9 rebounds and also had 3 blocks in the contest.  In all 11 different Eagles scored at least 5 points in the game and the team earned a season high 29 steals.

The win improves the Eagles overall record on the season to 17-2, they are 5-0 in IEAC games.  Desert drops to 3-15 and 0-4.  MSJC will have the weekend off before playing three games next week.  Monday the Eagles will host Victor Valley at 1 pm in a "non" conference game, before heading on the road to San Bernardino Valley on Wednesday and Copper Mountain on Saturday.
