TORRANCE, Calif. – Freshman Andrew White had the best game of his young career Wednesday as El Camino College scored a 3-1 (25-15, 25-13, 22-25 25-22) Western State Conference victory over L.A. Pierce at the ECC Gym Complex.
White hammered down a season-high 14 kills on 25 swings with four errors to post a .400 attack percentage. He added four digs and four service aces. Gabriel Vargas-Featherstone added 12 kills as Tommy Fraker dished out 28 assists and set the team to a .286 kill percentage.
The Warriors dominated the early going, jumping out to a quick 2-0 lead as they held the Brahmas to a .107 attacking percentage in the first set and a .125 clip in the second.
But the offense sputtered for ECC in the third. Despite the Brahmas only attacking at a .087 clip (8-6-23), the Warriors could not close out the sweep as they struggled with a .040 attack percentage.
But the Warriors bounced back in the fourth with 14 kills and just four errors in the frame, which was enough to hold off a late push by L.A. Pierce to close out the match.
The Warriors will return to action on Friday with a road match at Antelope Valley. First serve is set for 6 p.m.
