The Hornets welcomed the 2020 season on Wednesday with a 3-1 win over visiting San Diego Mesa College.
In the first set, both teams kept it close matching one another point for point, but FC went on a run taking a 24-20 lead. Mesa managed two more points before the Hornets put it away 25-22. Fullerton once again had their hands full in set two but pulled off a 25-21 win. Set 3 was a set back for FC falling behind early as the Olympians ran away with it 25-13. An inspiring talk by Coach Anderson motivated the Hornets set four as they ripped past Mesa 25-14 to win the match outright.
Leonardo Mazuco and David Lucio led the way for FC with 9 kills each. Mazuco had 4 digs and Lucio 5. Noah Lorenco chipped in with 5 kills and 21 assist, while Miguel Cortez delivered 4 kills. Justin Rudy and Damian Soriano both had 3 kills each. Hunter Wong-Hin had 10 digs.
Up Next: Fullerton (1-0 overall) hits the road on Tuesday, February 5th when they take on Antelope Valley College. Match time is at 6:00 pm.
