City College of San Francisco quarterback Jack Newman tossed six touchdown passes over the first half while the Rams' defense shut out its second opponent of the season in a dominant 58-0 victory at Chabot College on Saturday night in both teams' National Bay 6 League opener.

Earlier this season, San Francisco shutout Sacramento City College 45-0 in Week 2 and nearly had another in Week 5 against Santa Rosa (42-7).

The Rams appear to be getting stronger as the season progresses. They improved to 6-0 overall and have yet to be challenged.

Newman, who was recently named the State Athlete of the Month for September, is already making his case for October. He played in just two quarters, building a 45-0 CCSF lead at the break before sitting out the second half. Six of his 11 completions went for touchdowns as he threw 11 of 17 for 144 yards.

He tossed a pair of touchdown passes to Jeffrey Weimer (10, 9 yards) and connected for scores with Roderick Gaskins Jr. (5 yards), Ezra Grace (22 yards), Chu Chu Doe (8 yards), and Devan Walker (5 yards). Weimer led receivers with three receptions for 66 yards.

CCSF totaled 478 yards of offense, including a season-high 281 yards rushing. Walker led the Rams with 105 yards on 11 carries. Shawn Allen also ran 11 times for 64 yards, including a two-yard touchdown to close the scoring in the third quarter.

Backup QB Jeremy Stephens got in on the action, tossing an eight-yard touchdown to William Brown in the third.

The defense also came to play. The Rams allowed just 76 yards of offense, limiting Chabot to 33 yards rushing and 43 yards passing. CCSF recovered a pair of fumbles, came up with two sacks, and had two interceptions.

Frederick Thompkins led San Francisco with nine tackles while William Harris had eight. Samuelu Siasoi and Rocky Katoanga had sacks, while the secondary got picks from Joshua Scott and D'Andre Greeley to end possible Chabot scoring drives.

CCSF will look to keep its winning streak going next Saturday (Oct. 23) when the Rams host San Joaquin Delta College in a 1 p.m. National Bay 6 game.
