WOMEN'S VOLLEYBALL: HORNETS GRAB TWO WINS

The Fullerton College women's volleyball team busted out big in their season opener taking two games against Cerritos and Citrus Colleges at the Cerritos Triangular on Wednesday.

It was the debut of new head coach Megan Glennie's new-look Hornet squad and they did not disappoint beating Cerritos 3-2 and then handling Citrus College 3-1.

FC came out clicking winning the first two games against Cerritos, but the Falcons came firing back to win the next two setting up a match-winning game five. In a back-and-forth set, the Hornets pulled out the win 18-16.

Sophomore Lauren Schaefer played a big role in the victory with 20 kills, 9 assists and assists. Sophomore Kailyn Case led the way with 46 assists and 11 digs. Sophomore Samaria Longstreet had 16 kills and freshman Baylee Coble brought down 9 kills. Sophomore Andrea Lopez had a team-high 17 digs.

In the day's second game, Fullerton once again came out hot winning the first game 25-15, and then slipped in the second losing 25-16. After that, Fullerton went on a tear sweeping the Owls in the next two sets 27-25 and 25-10 to win the match. 

Schaefer followed up with 19 kills, 8 digs, and 4 aces and Case delivered 38 assists, 12 kills, and 8 digs. Ortega had 21 digs and Lopez contributed 14.

Up Next: The Hornets will have their home opener this Friday, August 31st against Mt. San Antonio College. Game time is at 6:00 PM. Come out and support the team!
