The No. 19 Long Beach City College Vikings Football team defeated the Chaffey College Panthers 31-28 with two seconds to spare on the clock. With their second home game win, the Vikings hold on to an overall 2-1 record.

Wide receiver Jonathan Watson was the first across the Panther's endzone with a six-yard pass from quarterback Qeanu Campbell-Caldwell in the first quarter. Kicker Mario De la Torre then hit a 30-yard field goal to extend the Vikings lead 10-0. Chaffey snuck in a two-yard run touchdown to only trail behind by three points leading into the second quarter.

Wide receiver Bryce Jones scored for the Vikings early in the quarter to lead the Panthers 17-7, but then Chaffey answered back with a run to close in on the Vikings at 17-14.

After halftime, the Panthers narrowed in on their offense and shut out the Vikings in the third quarter and scored two more touchdowns to now lead the Vikings 28-17.

The Vikings bounced back in the fourth quarter with a run from running back Dajon Newman with three-minutes left in the game. Down by five and two seconds to spare, wide receiver Trennel Ridgely scored from a 23-yard pass and took the win away from the Panthers at 31-28.

The Long Beach City College Vikings will return to the gridiron again on Saturday, Sept. 24 at San Diego Mesa College.
