Hawks drop final game vs undefeated Reedley @ Roundball Classic

CRC Hawks (2-2) vs. Reedley (4-0)

@ West Hills College-Lemoore

Lemoore, Calif – Cosumnes River (2-2) faced off against an undefeated Reedley Tigers squad (4-0) on the final day of the inaugural Roundball Classic at WHCL. CRC had some bright points in this tough matchup, but two players from Reedley exploded for scoring sprees (combined for 55 points).

At the half, CRC found themselves down 39-29 and playing catch-up in the second frame. Despite some offensive highlights by the Hawks, Reedley sophomores Hassan Bolden and Uriah Carter scored in bunches and helped keep a lead throughout the last 20 minutes of the game.

CRC's reserve freshman forward Rashaad Guthery showed improvement throughout the entire tournament, and today's game against Reedley was his strongest showing so far. He was consistent on both ends of the floor. He was active on the boards and had a great presence inside with numerous cleanup points. Guthery finished with 14 points.

Freshman shooting guard Adam Orr had a nice second half shooting performance with 14 points (including four 3-point shots). Sophomore starting guard Brandon Gray was selected as a member of the All-Tournament Team with his consistent play over the three games of the Roundball Classic at WHCL. Head Coach Jonathan James said, "Brandon has been good on both ends of the floor. As a sophomore, you can see the confidence and maturity throughout the game. It was no surprise that he was selected as All-Tourney this weekend."

Cosumnes River took the loss 79-67 and look forward to a possible rematch in the 2nd round of the 41st annual James Clark Classic at home on December 6.

Next up for the Hawks is 1st round matchup Feather River @ the John Hogue Memorial Tournament at Mendocino College in Ukiah on Thursday, November 21st  at 6:00pm.
