The MSJC men's basketball team went on the road on Wednesday and locked down a second place finish in the Inland Empire Athletic Conference with a 108-86 win over Palo Verde.

The Eagles took command of the game in the first half and went into the locker room with a 51-36 lead at halftime.  MSJC kept the pressure up in the second half with strong shooting from the field to out score Palo Verde 57-50 in the second 20 minutes.

Lenzell Simmons had a huge night off the bench as he scored a game high 25 points on 10 of 13 shooting, including making 3 of 5 three point shots.  Jamaal Barnes added 21 points and 7 rebounds in the win.  Kamien Cederlind and Chidi Okwarabizie also reached double figures on the night with 14 and 11 points respectively.  The Eagles shot a very impressive 40 of 66 from the field on the evening keeping Palo Verde at arms length all night.

The win improved the Eagles to 11-4 in IEAC games and puts them two games ahead of Victor Valley and San Bernardino Valley in conference play with just one regular season game remaining locking up second place behind league champion Chaffey.  The Eagles are now 15-12 overall on the season and took a huge step in securing a play-off spot.  MSJC will wrap up the regular season on Friday night when they host San Bernardino.  Friday's game is part of a doubleheader with the women's team as the Eagles celebrate Sophomore Night.  Tip-off on Friday night is scheduled for 5 pm for the women's game and 7 for the men's contest.
