SOFTBALL: IT'S ROUGH AT HOME

The Hornet softball team let another home-game slip away on Wednesday against Saddleback College 3-0.

FC has now lost 5 out of 8 games at home this season. Despite a great pitching effort by Jessica Lopez, the Hornets had a hard time generating any runs leaving 7 runners stranded.

Haylee Enriquez (3-1) took her first loss of the season going 2.2 innings with 1 earned run against, 2 walks, and 2 strikeouts. Lopez threw 4 shutout innings in relief with 2 hits, a walk, and 5 strikeouts.

Gaucho starting pitcher Veronica Belleza stymied FC's usually potent offense with 9 K's (5 looking) while allowing only 3 hits.

The 3-run damage was done in the second and third innings as Saddleback (12-6 overall, 3-3 conference) walked away with an important Orange Empire Conference victory. The Hornet loss hurts the team in the OEC standings putting them in a three-way tie for third place with Santa Ana and Saddleback. Cypress sits in first at 6-0, and Santiago Canyon is in second at 4-1.

Up Next: Fullerton will look to get back in the win column this Friday, March 6th when they take a trip down to Orange Coast College for another OEC matchup. The first pitch goes out at 2:00 pm.
