Baseball Falls in Season-Opening Twinbill to Sierra

Fairfield, Calif. - The Solano baseball team fell in its season-opening twinbill to Sierra on Saturday.

The Falcons came up short in the first game, 4-3, in eight innings, and dropped an 8-5 decision in the second game.

In the first game, Sierra took an early 2-0 lead in the third before freshman Jason Pridy came into the game in the seventh, hitting a two-run shot to knot things up and force extras. The Falcons were able to tack on a run in the bottom of the eighth, but the rally fell short as Sierra counted a pair of runs in the top half of the frame.

In the second game, freshman Nathan Jessell recorded the team's lone multi-hit game, earning a pair of RBI. Freshman Jimmy Larson also chalked up a couple of RBI, while freshman Leon Ancheta-Garcia pinch hit the team's only other multi-base hit with a double in the bottom of the seventh.

Sophomore David Reckers (0-1) was the pitcher of record after allowing the go-ahead run in the sixth inning.

Solano (0-2) heads to Diablo Valley next on Thursday, Apr. 15 for a 2:30 p.m. first pitch.
