Bakersfield, CA – The Bakersfield College Women's basketball team hosted visiting Santa Ana College in the Renegade Classic at the Gil Bishop Sports Center on Friday afternoon and won 60-55.

The Renegades came out strong in the first half and aided by 13 Santa Ana turnovers, led at the break led 27-16.  

In the second half, Santa Ana slowly worked their way back and tied the game at 47-47 with 3:33 left, before taking the lead on the next possession. Both teams would then exchange leads before Santa Ana tied it up at 53-53, where it stayed tied at the end of regulation.

In overtime, the Renegades would score first and secure the lead through the final buzzer to win their second game of the year, 60-55, over the Dons.

Leading BC in scoring for the afternoon was Dasia Wandick with 30 points and 14 rebounds and Brianna Mendez who added 15 points and 10 rebounds.

"It was a total and complete show of heart", commented Coach Dahl after the victory, "Going into the overtime I said that this comes down to heart – are we strong, are we tough – and Dasia Wandick played out of her mind. We still made young errors, but it was a great game".

With the win Renegades improve to 2-4 overall on the season.  

Up next, they will return to action tomorrow in their second game of the classic, Saturday Nov. 17, at home against LA Valley at 12:30pm in the Gil Bishop Sports Center.
