Women's Basketball Earns Road Win at San Bernardino

The MSJC women's basketball team shook off a slow shooting night on Wednesday to pick up an Inland Empire Athletic Conference road win at San Bernardino Valley 71-62.

The Eagles trailed 21-20 after the first period, but responded the out score the Wolverines 24-10 in the second quarter and led at the halftime break 44-31.  The offense slowed in the second half for MSJC, but they were able to play enough defense and out rebound SBVC to earn the victory.

Deja Blue led the way in the win as she recorded a double double with a team high 16 points and 10 rebounds, she also had 3 assists and 2 steals.  Haylei Janssens had her 17th double double of the season as well as she scored 13 points and grabbed 10 boards despite a poor shooting night.  Isabel Draheim came off the bench to add 13 points for the Eagles and Mariah Sanchez added 9 off the bench.  De'Adra Ross led the Eagles on the glass with 12 total boards as MSJC was able to gather 26 offensive rebounds in the game.

The win for the Eagles improves their overall record to 19-2 on the season they are 6-0 in IEAC games.  San Bernardino fell to 10-10 overall and 4-2 in league contests.  MSJC will travel to Copper Mountain on Saturday for a 1 pm game, before returning home next Wednesday January 29th when they host Barstow.  The game on the 29th will tip-off at 5 pm with a men's game to follow at 7.
