Hawks cruise to 3-1 win over Merritt

Las Positas College improved to 4-1 overall on the season thanks to a 3-1 victory over visiting Merritt College on Friday in Livermore.
The Hawks scored all three goals in the first half to build an insurmountable lead they wouldn't give up. Dominic Giusto (15th minute), Saul Gutierrez (25th), and Samuel Kanghere (35th) all found the back of the net. For Gutierrez, it was his team-leading ninth goal of the season while his assist on Giusto's tally gave him a Hawks-best 21 points.
Simon Fuentes and Griffin Lafleur were also credited with assists. Garrett Aslup and Miguel Cortez once again split time in goal for the victory.
Las Positas will look to win its third straight game on Tuesday (Sep. 14) when the Hawks host College of Marin in a 4 p.m. non-conference game.
