Women’s Basketball Continues their 27th Straight Postseason Campaign with 63-52 Victory over Skyline

Sierra College Women's Basketball Friday hosted Skyline College in round 2 of the 2019 California Community College Athletic Association Women's Basketball Playoffs, advancing with the 63-52 victory. Next up, the Wolverines travel to San Joaquin Delta College in Stockton on Saturday, March 9 to take on the Mustangs in round 3, with the winner advancing to the 2019 CCCAA State Championships.

In the game against Skyline, it was a close one through the first two quarters, with the score all tied up at 28 at the half. Sierra was able to break away a tiny bit in the third, with a third quarter score of 46-43. The fourth is when Sierra really started to jump out in front, scoring 17 to Skyline's 9 for the 63-52 final.

Sierra's Shanel Jamison scored more than a quarter of the points for Sierra, sinking 25 in her 28th start for the Wolverines including making 5 out of 6 free throw attempts. Kailee McCarrick scored 19 points for second on the evening, while shooting .500 from the three point line and grabbing 7 rebounds. Leah Richardson was third in point scoring with 7, while also tying the rebound lead along with Aycee Willis with 7 each, while Willis led Sierra with 5 assists.

Sierra now travels to Big 8 rival Delta to face off for a place at the CCCAA 2019 Women's Basketball State Championships. The game is scheduled for Saturday, March 9, time TBD
