SHASTA COLLEGE SPLITS AT SIERRA CLASSIC

REDDING, Calif. – Shasta College's volleyball team won two of six matches last week, beating Marin College and Taft across the Sierra Classic and Delta Classic.

Sierra Classic

Shasta lost to Sierra 25-12, 25-18, 25-12, totaling only 14 kills in the match. Danae Ford had 12 assists and 10 digs and Olivia Kaczmarek led the way with four kills. Aliyah Rosado Cruz totaled 14 digs.

The Knights won the second game at the Sierra Classic, beating Marin 25-16, 25-12, 22-25, 30-28. Kaczmarek paced Shasta with nine kills while Jennifer Troxclair had eight kills and 17 digs. Rosado Cruz racked up 25 digs and Ford dished 21 assists in the win. Olivia Sladek totaled four solo blocks.

Delta Classic

Shasta lost the first match to Fresno 25-13, 25-8, 25-11. Troxclair had three kills and Ford had 10 digs.

The Knights were swept by Santa Rosa 25-17, 25-8, 25-10 with Calley Rupert, Ford, Troxclair and Kaczmarek each totaling three kills. Ford had 13 assists and Rosado Cruz racked up 12 digs.

Shasta started Friday off with a four-set win over Taft, taking it 25-22, 21-25, 25-20, 25-16. Troxclair led the way with 13 kills to go with 13 digs and Asha Woods and Charly Simpson each tallied seven kills. Ford put up 31 assists and Rupert had 19 digs.

In the final match of the tournament, Shasta lost to Solano 25-16, 25-19, 25-12. Troxclair's five kills paced the Knights while Woods and Kaczmarek each had four. Ford finished with 13 assists and Rosado Cruz had 15 digs.

Shasta is 4-5 overall and plays Simpson University Wednesday at home at 7 p.m.
