The Lady Condors had high hopes for their opener against cross-county Ventura College on Wednesday night.  Those hopes were quickly extinguished when the Pirates opened up a 27-10 first quarter lead.  VC added to their advantage each quarter to claim the contest by a final of 95-52.

"The ladies came out flat tonight," said head coach Ron McClurkin.  "VC did a great job bringing in full-team subs and made a ton of shots."

Robin Prince had 10 points, nine rebounds and two assists for the Condors.  Diamond Bishop had 17 points and grabbed four rebounds to lead OC in scoring.  Alissa Aranda dropped in 14 points to go along with five assists, but Oxnard had no answer for the balanced VC attack.

"We can only play with the players we have right now," said McClurkin, referring to top-scoring threat Jasmine Wright. Wright leads Oxnard with a 17.6 point scoring average, but was unavailable for the contest.

The Condors hope to be at full strength when they travel up to Allan Hancock College on Saturday night to take on the Bulldogs at 2:00 pm.
