The Hawks (5-7, 0-0 Big 8)  fell short in the series finale against COS Sunday losing 5-2. The Hawks got off to a fast start in the top of the first inning. Sophmore Brett Graber (Capital Christian HS) started things off with a single to right field. Freshman Jack Painter (Davis HS) singled to left field, advancing Graber to third base on the hard hit. Then Sophmore Henry Degnan (El Cerrito HS) hit a towering sac fly to centerfield to score Graber. Next up in the inning was Freshman first baseman Gabriel Ramirez (Capital Christian HS) hit an absolute missile to left center field for an RBI double (scoring Painter from 1st). That would be all the offense the Hawks could get on the day.

Sophmore Ethan Torres (Liberty Ranch HS) started the game and struggled to find the zone in his 3 2/3 of inning work. Torres loaded the bases in the 4th inning and was releived by Freshman Alan Garcia (4 1/3 innings of work). Garcia left a fastball up on a 2-1 count and the Giants hit a bases clearing triple to bring in the go ahead runs for the Giants.

The Hawks return to the diamond this upcoming Tuesday when they travel to Cabrillo College for a non conference game set for 2:00 pm.
