Christian Vera netted his third goal in two games to clinch the West Valley men's soccer team's 2-0 victory at Monterey Peninsula Tuesday. Vera took a Francisco Hernandez pass from midfield and then drove home a laser from just outside the box as time expired. Hernandez also assisted on WVC's first goal, a corner kick that Pablo Ramirez Belmont lined past Lobo keeper Mark Cardenas in the 15th minute. Viking keeper Jeron Rojas turned away five MPC shots for his third clean sheet of the season. The Vikings (4-3-2, 2-0-0 Coast) host rival De Anza (4-3-3, 1-0-2) Friday (10/11). Kickoff is 1:30pm.
